Thomas is a photographer, artist, and educator based in the coastal town of Port Elliot, South Australia, an hours drive from Adelaide. His practice spans commercial photography, including music, fashion, events, and corporate work, while his personal projects focus on observational storytelling.
His work increasingly explores themes of escapism, leisure, community, and the human relationship to space, place, and meaning. Through a documentary-led approach, Thomas is interested in moments of pause, connection, and quiet tension within contemporary life. In recognition of this work, in 2025 he was a finalist in the Bowness Photography Prize, Australia’s richest photography prize, with the work exhibited at the Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh).
Alongside his visual practice, Thomas has written pieces spanning across music, travel, surf, and wellbeing genres. His writing has appeared in publications including WILD Magazine, Wasted Talent Magazine, Huck Magazine, Surf Visuals Magazine, and Pilerats.. Thomas works professionally as a SACE Photography and Design teacher and Wellbeing Coordinator. In 2021, he co-founded The Spray Room Gallery in Adelaide with Jack Fenby, where they curated a diverse program of exhibitions over two years.
Passionate about print media, Thomas has released a range of photographic zines. in 2022 he self published his first photobook ‘Carpark Stories’ and in 2025 he self published ‘Hart Avenue’.
